RPF launches Operation ThirstDate: 12 July 2019 Tags: Miscellaneous
Railway Protection Force (RPF) launched all India drive called “Operation Thirst” to crack down selling of unauthorised Packaged Drinking Water (PDW) in Railway premises. It was launched on 08th & 09th July 2019 on the direction of DG/RPF, Railway Board, New Delhi.
- Objective of this all India drive was to curb the menace of unauthorized Packaged Drinking Water (PDW) in Railway premises,
- During this drive, all Zonal Principal Chief Security Commissioners (PCSCs) were asked to crackdown these unauthorised activities. It covered almost all major stations over Indian Railway.
- Impact: Around 1371 persons were arrested and over 69,294 bottles were seized by RPF during this drive for selling of packaged drinking water of unauthorised brands under different sections i.e. 144 & 153 of Railways Act. Total fine amount of Rs. 6,80,855/- have been realized from these offenders. The special drive will be followed by continuous action by concerned PCSCs on this issue.
