Maharashtra was adjudged top state in
National Water Awards
- Instituted by Union Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation in 2018 to
emphasisethe importance of water resource management in India.
- It is given
for13 categories. Its prime objective is to bring best effortsin water conservation to national front and encourage all stakeholders to manage their water resources efficiently.
- It also seeks to encourage water use efficiency, recycling and reuse of water and creating awareness through people’s participation in targeted areas for ground water resources development, adequate capacity building etc.
