President Ram Nath Kovind was honoured with Croatia's highest civilian award-Grand Order of the King of Tomislav. He was presented award by Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic at ceremony in Zagreb, capital of Croatia.
He was awarded for his exceptional contribution to advancement of overall relations and development of mutual cooperation between India and Croatia and for promoting friendship and partnership between people of both the countries.
Grand Order of the King of Tomislav
It is highest state order of Croatia. It has one class and is named after King Tomislav of Croatia. It is awarded by the President of Croatia.
It is awarded to top foreign officials for their contribution to improvement of Croatia's good standing internationally as well as achievements in developing international relations between Croatia and their respective countries.
President Ram Nath Kovind visited Croatia as first leg of his eight-day three-nation official visit to Croatia, Bolivia and Chile to further strengthen bilateral ties between India and the three countries. He is the first-ever Indian head of state to visit Croatia.
