Ranji champions Vidarbha won 2018-19 Irani Cup by defeating Rest of India (RoI) in match played at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur, Maharashtra. This match had ended in draw, but Vidarbha was declared winner on basis of their 95-run first innings lead. In the first innings, Vidarbha had scored 425 in reply to Rest of India's 330. Later, RoI declared their second innings on 374/3, setting Vidarbha 280-run target.
About Irani Cup
- It was started during 1959-60 season to mark completion of 25 years of Ranji Trophy championship.
- This tournament is always played between previous year’s Ranji Trophy winners and Rest of India Team.
- ROI team is composed of players across country except for those from season's current Ranji Trophy winner.
- It is named after late Zal R Irani, who was associated with Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from its inception in 1928 till his death in 1970. ZR Irani was long time treasurer of BCCI and also keen patron of game of cricket.
