Xi Jinping thought

The ‘Xi Jinping thought’ will be taught to students from primary schools up to university in China, to instill Marxist ideology.



Xi Jinping Thought first originated during the conclave of the Communist Party in 2017. It was later added in Chinese constitution.



  • They are officially known as “Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era”.

  • These contain policies and ideas that originated from Chinese President Xi Jinping. Xi is the next most powerful leader after Mao Zedong.

  • The move to teach the thoughts is said to be an effort to spread ideology of communist party to every walk of life; from business to schools to cultural institutions.

  • The government justifies the move as a way to cultivate the builders and successors of socialism having moral, physical and intellectual capabilities.


The thoughts

  • The thoughts contain eight fundamental issues theoretically and along with that it will lay down 14 fundamental principles for enhancing government efforts.

  • Fundamental issues include making China prosperous through socialist modernisation and national rejuvenation.

  • It aims to build China into a strong, prosperous, culturally advanced, democratic and beautiful nation by the next couple of decades.

  • The thoughts also aim at building a world-class and modern military that obey the directions of the party, fight and win wars.


Thoughts of Chinese leaders

  • China has seen many political leaders since the communist revolution. Among the leaders, Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping and Xi Jinping have their own philosophies.

  • Apart from Mao, only Xi Jinping has the political stature and influence to implement his philosophies throughout the country during his time in power.
