UK- EU Brexit deal

Issue

Britain has secured a Brexit deal with the European Union , more than three years after Britons voted to leave the bloc. But PM Boris Johnson still has to secure votes to get the agreement signed.

 

Background

Lack of co-ordination and consensus on several issues have prevented Britian to exit EU in a timely manner with a suitable package. This has resulted in a policy paralysis in political system of UK.

 

Details

  • The deal means there would be no need for further delay to Britain’s departure and negotiations on the future relationship between Britain and the EU would begin as soon as the deal gets approved by the U.K. and European Parliaments.

  • But the main opposistion in the UK parliament, the Labour party has disagreed to vote in its favour and has demanded a public vote in this regard.

 

Brexit

Brexit is the scheduled withdrawal of the United Kingdom (UK) from the European Union (EU). Following a June 2016 referendum, in which 51.9% of participating voters voted to leave.
