Background

  • The organization says that the activities carried out by North Korea were clear violation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

North Korea’s plan

  • The sealing of borders and pandemic has crippled the economy of North Korea. The resumption of nuclear tests may be for getting international concessions.

Concerns

  • There may be concerns regarding North Korea’s attempts to sell its nuclear weapons or its nuclear technology.

  • The country is in dire need of money and aid to survive. It may adopt drastic measures to get relief or earn revenue.

US measures

South Korea has asked US to engage with North Korea to resume talks. It will be a way towards denuclearization of Korean peninsula.
