India’s evacuation plan for its citizens in Ukraine

India is planning to evacuate Indian citizens and family members of the Indian embassy staff from Kyiv.

The government is planning to fly three flights from Ukraine. The first of the flight is being operated on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

The flight is expected to reach the Boryspil airport in Kyiv to evacuate Indian citizens. The flight has capacity of 256 seats.

Indian citizens can book tickets from Air India websites, authorized travel agents and also its booking offices.

India has asked students and non-essential visitors to leave the country. The family members of Indian embassy officials are also asked to leave.

This was the second advisory given out by Indian embassy officials to citizens from Ukraine. This was due to high level of tensions and uncertainties.
Ukraine situation

Tensions have escalated fast after Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree to recognize separatists regions of Donetsk and Luhansk as independent.

Following the announcement, US President Joe Biden has signed an executive order blocking trade and investment in the regions.

India has refused to take a stand in the situation and has instead asked both the parties to exercise restraint.
