India is planning to evacuate Indian citizens and family members of the Indian embassy staff from Kyiv.

 

Details

• The government is planning to fly three flights from Ukraine. The first of the flight is being operated on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

• The flight is expected to reach the Boryspil airport in Kyiv to evacuate Indian citizens. The flight has capacity of 256 seats.

• Indian citizens can book tickets from Air India websites, authorized travel agents and also its booking offices.

 

Indian evacuation

• India has asked students and non-essential visitors to leave the country. The family members of Indian embassy officials are also asked to leave.

• This was the second advisory given out by Indian embassy officials to citizens from Ukraine. This was due to high level of tensions and uncertainties.

 

Ukraine situation

• Tensions have escalated fast after Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree to recognize separatists regions of Donetsk and Luhansk as independent.

• Following the announcement, US President Joe Biden has signed an executive order blocking trade and investment in the regions.

• India has refused to take a stand in the situation and has instead asked both the parties to exercise restraint.
