The United States will host a meeting of the 4th US-India 2+2 Dialogue in California to discuss ways to advance cooperation on critical diplomatic and security priorities.
The 2+2 dialogue is a meeting between Defence and External affairs ministers of India with their US counterparts.
The goal of a 'two plus two dialogue' is to establish a diplomatic conversation between two countries' respective heads of defence and external affairs.
- The meeting is aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership. The two sides will discuss ways to advance cooperation on critical diplomatic and security priorities, including shared vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific region, and review preparations for the next 2+2 Ministerial dialogue.
- During the fourth US-India Maritime Security Dialogue, the two sides will exchange views on maritime developments in the Indo-Pacific region and consider steps to further strengthen bilateral maritime security cooperation.

- Helps in solving bilateral issues that affect ties between the two countries such as H1B visa and trade duties.
- Formation of bilateral policies that are based on trust.
