Union Government has announced that it will provide scholarships to five crore minority students in the next five years to ensure their socio-economic-educational empowerment. The scholarships will include pre-matric, post-matric and merit-cum-means. Out of five crore beneficiary students, 50% will be girls students. It was announced by Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi while chairing Governing and General Body meetings of Maulana Azad Education Foundation in New Delhi.
Padho-Badho Awareness Campaign
It will be launched by Union Ministry for Minority Affairs across the country. In first phase, it will be launched in 60 minority concentrated districts. It will be aimed at encouraging education especially in minority girls in those areas of the country where people do not send their children to schools due to socio-economic reasons. It will include street plays, short films and cultural programmes.
