Naval Commandersâ€™ Conference to be held in New DelhiDate: 22 April 2019 Tags: Defence & Security
The first edition of Naval Commanders’ Conference in 2019 is scheduled to be held at New Delhi from 23 to 25 April 2019. The conference is the apex forum within Service for institutionalised interaction between Naval Commanders and senior Government Officials. It is a biannual conference i.e. it is held twice a year.
The conference will provide the higher naval leadership a forum to discuss the emerging challenges in the maritime domain. It also assumes greater significance in backdrop of Pulwama associated events that have brought country's defence under sharper focus.
Naval Commanders’ Conference 2019
- Top commanders of Indian Navy will extensively deliberate on emerging challenges facing the country in the maritime domain and review the evolving security dynamics in the region.
- Chief of the Naval Staff, with the Commanders-in-Chief, will review major operational, materiel, logistics, Human Resource, training and administrative activities undertaken during the previous six months and deliberate upon the course to be steered in the ensuing six months.
- The themes of conference includes 'Functional Reorganisation of Indian Navy towards improving Operational Efficiency' and 'Optimal Manning' will form the core of discussions.
- Moreover, there will be interaction with chiefs of Indian Army and Indian Air Force during conference. It will be utilised to analyse operational environment, deliberate on tri-service synergy and readiness to deter and neutralise threats aimed at the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Conference assumes greater significance in backdrop of Pulwama associated events. It is expected to fine-tune Indian Navy's strategy for responding to any possible threats. It will discuss overall security challenges in the backdrop of the Pulwama attack and developments thereafter.
