IMCOR 2019: Indo-Myanmar coordinated patrolDate: 21 May 2019 Tags: Military Exercises
The 2019 Indo-Myanmar coordinated patrol (IMCOR) is taking place from 20 May to 28 May 2019 at Andaman & Nicobar command. The CORPAT initiative between Indian Navy and Myanmar Navy was first held in March 2013. It is aimed at addressing issues of human trafficking, poaching, illegal fishing, drug trafficking, terrorism and other illegal activities harmful to interest of both nations. It has enhanced mutual understanding and fostered improved professional interaction between the two navies for maritime interoperability.
In this edition, Myanmar ships UMS King TabinShweHtee and UMS Inlay will undertake a coordinated patrol along with Indian Naval Ship Saryu. They will patrol along International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) between two countries covering distance of roughly 725 kilometres in four days, augmented by patrol aircraft from both navies. The ships will also undertake joint manoeuvres and drills during the sea phase.
