Al Nagah III: India, Oman military exerciseDate: 06 March 2019 Tags: Military Exercises
The third edition of bilateral military exercise between India and Oman- Exercise Al Nagah III is scheduled to be held at Jabel Al Akhdar Mountains in Oman from 12 to 25 March 2019. It follows first two joint exercises that were held in Oman in January 2015 and India in March 2017 respectively.
Exercise Al Nagah III
- It aims at enhancing interoperability in counterterrorist operations in semi urban mountainous terrain.
- It will see armies of both countries exchanging expertise and experience in tactics, weapon handling and firing.
- Indian Army contingent will be represented by 10th Battalion of Garhwal Rifles. Oman Army will be represented by Jabel Regiment of Royal Army of Oman (RAO).
- This exercise will go long way in enchaining understanding of capabilities and strengthening camaraderie between both the Armies.
India-Oman bilateral security ties have continued to develop since beginning of India-Oman Joint Military Cooperation meetings in 2006. Under it military exercise Al Nagah was initiated in January 2015. Similar exercises are also in vogue between navies and air forces of both nations. It underscores growing bilateral military and strategic partnership between two important nations of Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
