North Korea's parliament has approved changes to the country's constitution to solidify leader Kim Jong Un's role as head of state.
The presidium president had historically been the nominal head of state as provided by earlier constitution. Mr. Kim's legal status as representing the state has been further consolidated to firmly ensure the monolithic guidance of the Supreme Leader over all state affairs.
The new constitution authorises Mr. Kim to promulgate legislative ordinances and major decrees and decisions and appoint or recall diplomatic envoys to foreign countries.
Researchers have sighted a critically endangered species of tarantula for the first time beyond its known habitat in the Eastern Ghats.
The spider belonging to the genus Poecilotheria, commonly known as the Peacock Parachute Spider or Gooty Tarantula was spotted by a team of researchers from Indigenous Biodiversity Foundation (IBF) in the Pakkamalai Reserve Forests in Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu.
The species, known to be endemic to India, was found at different locations in the reserve forests. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) categorised it as Critically Endangered.
Bank frauds saw a whopping 73.8% jump in value in 2018-19 as compared to the previous year according to the report by RBI. In terms of number of cases, it was up 15%.
The banks took an average of 55 months to report fraud. Among bank groups, public sector banks (PSBs), which constitute the largest market share in bank lending, have accounted for the much of frauds reported in 2018-19. These were followed by private sector banks and foreign banks.
