Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the renovated complex of the Jallianwala Bagh memorial in Punjab’s Amritsar via video conferencing.
The revamped monument was to be inaugurated on April 13 this year to mark 102 years of the massacre in which 379 people had lost their lives, but it had to be postponed owing to Covid-related restrictions.
PM Modi is the chairperson of the Jallianwala Bagh Memorial Trust. Other trust members include Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Governor V P Singh Badnore.
An invite has also been sent to Opposition leader AdhirRanjan Chowdhury, who is also a member of the trust.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme 2021-22 Series VI, which will be open for subscription for the period August 30-September 3, 2021.
The nominal value of the bond, based on the simple average closing price for gold of 999 purity of the last three business days of the week preceding the subscription period, works out to ?4,732 per gram of gold.
The Centre, in consultation with the RBI, has decided to offer a discount of ?50 per gram less than the nominal value to those investors applying online and making payment against the application via digital mode.
The Madras Engineers Group (MEG) of the Indian Army in collaboration with General Thimayya National Academy of Adventure has jointly organised the National-Level Multi Class Youth Sailing Championship in the backwaters of KRS dam in Mandya district.
The event is being held under the aegis of Yachting Association of Karnataka and Yachting Association of India. This is the first Sailing Championship of national magnitude to be held at the KRS.
The events will be held in different classes including: 29er Class; Laser Radial Class; Laser 4.7 Class; RS: One class; Optimist main fleet; and Optimist green fleet.
