East Bengal has officially been included in the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) 2020/21 season, organisers Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) announced.
The Red and Golds had facilitated their entry process earlier this month after Kolkata-based cement giants, Shree Cement Limited, acquired majority stakes in the club.
East Bengal will now become the 11th team to participate in the ISL which started off as an eight-team competition back in 2014. Their arch-rivals, Mohun Bagan, merged with ISL champions ATK earlier in the year.
India and Denmark have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to increase cooperation in the area of intellectual property rights (IPRs) by exchanging best practices and collaborating in training programmes.
The two sides will draw up a biennial work plan to implement the MoU which will include detailed planning for carrying out cooperation activities, including scope of action.
The MoU aims to increase IP cooperation between the two countries by way of exchange of best practices, experiences and knowledge on IP awareness among authorities, businesses and research and educational institutions, and collaboration in training programmes, exchange of experts, technical exchanges, and outreach activities.
Renowned economist Isher Judge Ahluwalia passed away after a battle with brain cancer. She was 74. She is survived by husband Montek Singh Ahluwalia.
Ahluwalia served as the director and then the chairperson of Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) for a total of 15 years and built ICRIER into a leading global think tank.
She was also a professor at the Centre for Policy Research. Her last book ‘Breaking Through: A Memoir by Isher Judge Ahluwalia‘ was published last month.
Former defence minister Jaswant Singh passed away in New Delhi after 6 years in coma. He was 82. In 2014, he was admitted to the Army (Research and Referral) Hospital in Delhi following a severe head injury at his residence.
A former officer of the Indian Army, Singh had contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections as an Independent candidate from Barmer district in Rajasthan after he did not get a BJP ticket. He lost to Colonel Sona Ram of the BJP.
Singh served as the Minister for Finance, Minister for Defence, and Minister for External Affairs under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.
