Pakistani drone found in Punjab

  • Punjab police have recovered a Pakistani drone which was used to airdrop arms and ammunition in border areas of the state.
  • This is the second instance when a drone has been discovered in recent days, that has been allegedly used to smuggle weapons to terrorists.
  • The weapons is allegedlyfor a terror module of the Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF), which is working with Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed to create unrest in Punjab and rest of the country.

QUAD meeting to take place

  • The Quadrilateral Strategic Dialogue (“the Quad”) between India, Australia, Japan and the U.S. held its first Minister-level meeting after its revival in 2017.
  • The group, which met in New York is seen as a regional counter-weight to China and has only met at the Joint or Assistant Secretary level since 2017.
  • Members of the Quad, barring Australia, are currently engaged in the annual Malabar exercise which is a trilateral military exercise held annually between India, USA and Japan in Bay of Bengal.

Saudi Arabia abolishes Abaya rule

  • The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has decided to abolish Abaya rule for touring foreign women after it has decided to issue tourist visas for the first time in order to boost its tourism sector.
  • The kingdom will ease its strict dress code, allowing women to go without the body-shrouding abaya robe that is still mandatory public wear for Saudi women.

Andhra Pradesh wins best tourism award

  • Andhra Pradesh has won the top honour at the National Tourism Awards 2017-18, which were presented by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu.
  • Andhra Pradesh bagged the Best State award for overall growth in tourism category.
  • Goa and Madhya Pradesh were the joint winners in the Adventure Tourism category and Uttarakhand won the award for the Best Film Promotion-Friendly State. Telangana won the award for the Best State for the innovative use of IT.

Indiabulls company share collapses

  • The petition alleged that Indiabulls Housing gave “dubious loans" worth billions of rupees to shell companies through firms owned by the group’s founders “to increase their personal wealth.
