Govt bans Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh terror outfit

  • Union Home Ministry has banned Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (also called as Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen India or Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Hindustan)
  • It has declared as a banned terrorist organization under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 and was placed in First Schedule of this Act.
  • This terror outfit has committed acts of terrorism, promoted acts of terrorism. It has been engaged in radicalization and recruitment of youths for terrorist activities in India.

Sweden to host International Conference against Anti-Semitism

  • Sweden will host an International Conference against Anti-Semitism in memory of holocaust in October 2020. It will be held in Malmo, Southern Sweden.
  • It will be held 20 years after the Declaration of Stockholm International Forum on Holocaust and 75 years after the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp.
  • Anti-Semitism:  It is hostility, prejudice, or discrimination against Jews. It is generally considered to be a form of racism.

Saurabh Chaudhary wins gold medal in 2019 ISSF Gold Cup

  • Ace Indian shooter Saurabh Chaudhary (17 years old) won gold medal in 10m Air Pistol event in ISSF Gold Cup 2019. It was his second gold medal in this event.
  • In the finals, Saurabh scored 246.3 points, breaking his own senior record of 245 points and junior record of 245.5 points.
  • Earlier, in February 2019 he had bagged gold during the ISSF World Cup in Delhi. He had booked quota for 2020 Olympics during his maiden World Cup after this win.
  • Note: He is only Indian shooter to win gold medal in ISSF World Championship, ISSF World Cup, Youth Olympic Games, Asian Air Gun Championship and Asian Games.

Rahi Sarnobat wins gold in 2019 ISSF World Cup

  • Rahi Sarnobat has won gold in women’s 25m pistol at season’s third International Shooting Sport Federation  (ISSF) World Cup held in Munich, Germany.
  • She secured 37 (out of 50 shots) in the final.  With this win, she sealed Olympic quota place for India in women’s 25m pistol event. This is India’s first Olympic quota spot in this event.
  • In this event, Olena Kostevych of Ukraine won silver medal with 36 hits, Antoaneta Boneva of Bulgaria won bronze medal with 26.
