Malayalam film Jallikattu has been named as India’s official entry for Oscars 2021 in foreign category best films.
Jallikattu is the second Malayalam film to be entered for the Oscars, after Adaminte Makan Abu in 2011. Zoya Akhtar’s musical drama Gully Boy was last year’s entry.
Jallikattu is the latest achievement for the director, who is known for titles such as Anagamaly Diaries (2017) and Ee. Ma.Yau (2018), both of which are considered path breaking outings in Malayalam as well as Indian cinema.
US President Donald Trump has pardoned his former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who had twice pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI during the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
A retired Army general, Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about interactions he had with Russias ambassador to the United States in the weeks leading up to Trump's inauguration in January 2017.
Trump's move was the highest-profile pardon he has granted since he took office. Among others, the president has pardoned Army personnel accused of war crimes in Afghanistan and Joe Arpaio, a former Arizona sheriff and hardliner against illegal immigration.
Sweden is getting on board India’s Venus orbiter mission ‘Shukrayaan’ with a scientific instrument to explore the planet.
The Swedish satellite instrument Venusian Neutrals Analyzer [VNA] will study how the charged particles from the Sun interact with the atmosphere and exosphere of the planet.
The instrument will study how the plasma around the Moon interacts with the moon where the surface is not protected by an atmosphere or a magnetic field.
The SARA experiment was the first collaborative project between IRF and the ISRO.
Scientific objectives of ISRO's Venus mission are the investigation of the surface processes and shallow subsurface stratigraphy; and solar wind interaction with Venusian Ionosphere, and studying the structure, composition, and dynamics of the atmosphere.
