India to participate in G7 Summit at France

  • PM Modi will be attending the G7 Summit at Biarritzin France. Although India is not a member of the G7 group, PM Modi would be attending the G7 Summit as a special guest, personally invited by French President Emmanuel Macron.
  • The countries that are part of the G7 include the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United States.
  • PM Modi is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with Chile and Senegal, who are also special invitees to the G7 Summit.
  • PM Modi would attend two sessions at the G7 Summit. The morning session on Biodiversity, Climate and Oceans and the afternoon session on Digital Transformation.

Bank of Maharashtra to link repo rate with retail loans

  • Bank of Maharashtra (BoM) has said it will link its retail loans with the repo rate, which will make the loans cheaper.
  • At present, it will be for new customers only and in due course it will be extended to existing customers as well.
  • By linking repo rate to retail loans, the bank is passing interest rate benefits directly to the customers and it will make the retail loans cheaper.

  • PM Narendra Modi was honoured with "The King Hamad Order of the Renaissance" in Manama by the King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
  • PM Modi's visit to Bahrain is significant as it is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to the country. The visit strengthens India's close connect with the six-nation powerful Gulf Cooperation Council.

PV Sindhu wins gold at World Badminton Championship

  • Sindhu defeated Nozomi Okuhara 21-7  21-7 in straight sets to win the championship.

  • Sindhu had previously won silver medal continuously for last 2 editions going with 2 bronze medals earlier.
