- Karnataka Assembly adopted the anti conversion bill – The Karnataka Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Bill, 2021, — through a voice vote at the ongoing Winter Session.
- The Karnataka government has decided to follow in the footsteps of Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, which have enacted such laws.
- The Bill states that marriage done with the sole purpose of unlawful conversion or vice versa shall be declared as null and void.
