Fouaad Mirza qualifies for Olympics in Equestrian

  • Double Asian Games medallist equestrian Fouaad Mirza secured an Olympic quota, ending a wait spanning nearly two decades.
  • Mirza qualified after he was the highest ranked rider in Group G for the South East Asia, Oceania in the individual eventing category after the end of the Europe stage.
  • Imtiaz Anees (2000 Sydney) and Late Wing Commander IJ Lamba (1996 Atlanta) are the only Indians to have represented the country in Equestrian at the Olympics.

Sub Lt Shivangi, the first woman pilot for Navy

  • In a major stride, the Indian Navy is set to get its first ever woman pilot as Sub-Lieutenant (Sub-Lt) Shivangi completes her training and joins navy.
  • Ms Shivangi hails from Muzaffarpur in Bihar and has completed her training from Naval school, Ezhimala.
  • Upon completion of her operational training, Sub-Lt Shivangi will receive the authorisation to fly the Indian Navy's Dornier aircraft, making her the first woman pilot from the naval cadre to get into the cockpit.

Devendra Fadnavis takes oath as Maharashtra CM
