Azim Premji will retire as executive chairman of Wipro Limited upon completion of his current term on July 30, 2019. But he will continue to serve on board as non-executive director and founder chairman.
He had been at the helm of WIPRO for more than 50 years. Under his leader Wipro had evoluved from vegetable oil company founded in 1946 into global IT firm.
He is India’s second richest man and well-known philanthropist. After his retirement, his son, Rishad Premji, chief strategy officer (CSO) and board member, will take over as executive chairman. CEO Abidali Neemuchwala was appointed as MD.
Bancha in Betul district Madhya Pradesh became India’s first only solar kitchen village. It achieved this feat all 75 houses in village shed dependency on wooden stoves and LPG cylinders and used on;y solar-powered stoves to meet their cooking needs. The households in the village use special solar stove developed by team from IIT Mumbai. Its successful model will be replicated in other villages to make them smoke and pollution free.
