Retirement age for CAPF fixed at 60 years

  • The union Home Ministry has fixed the retirement age of all central armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel at 60 years.
  • The MHA has issued the order owing to a Delhi High court order which ordered MHA to fix a uniform age limit to all CAPF at 60.

Veteran music composer Khayyam passes away

  • Legendary music composer Mohammed Zahur KhayyamHashmi, popularly known as Khayyam, passed away in Mumbai. He was 92.
  • A Padma Bhushan awardee, Khayyam had composed music for famous  films including Kabhi Kabhi (1972), Umrao Jaan (1981), Noorie (1979), Raziya Sultan (1983), Bazaar (1982).

Vodafone Idea CEO Balesh Sharma quits

  • Chief executive Balesh Sharma has resigned citing “personal reasons" and will be replaced by Vodafone Group’s India representative, Ravinder Takkar.
  • Takkar is a board member of Vodafone Idea and Indus Towers.
  • Takkar was earlier tipped to be the first chief executive of the company and was leading negotiations on Vodafone Group’s behalf during the merger.

Former CM of Bihar Jagannath Mishra passes away

  • Former CM of Bihar Jagannath Mishra passed away in Delhi at the age of 82.
  • Mishra was Chief Minister of the State in 1975, 1980 and in 1989-90. He was the State’s last Congress Chief Minister.
  • He was the Agriculture Minister in Prime Minister P.V. Narsimha Rao government at the Center in 1995.
