  • Cyber security agencies suspect a massive data breach has occurred over the last few days, enabling cyber criminals to obtain proof against citizens visiting pornographic websites and blackmailing them.
  • Cyber criminals install trackers on porn sites which creep into the browsers of the targets when they visit the sites. Once the trackers have access to the victims’ browsers, they can do anything that they are programmed to do, including capture log in names and passwords of email or other accounts.
  • Another possibility is that passwords of a large number of targets, which were hacked at a previous date, have been sold in bulk to a gang specialising in cyber-extortion and are now being used to intimidate the victims.

US warns China of consequences if found responsible for COVID-19 pandemic

  • US President Donald Trump warned on Saturday that China could face consequences if it was "knowingly responsible" for the coronavirus pandemic.
  • Trump, who as expressed his disappointment over handling of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) by China, alleged non-transparency and initial non-cooperation with the US on this issue.
  • The Trump administration has said it doesn't rule out that the novel coronavirus was spread accidentally from a laboratory researching bats in Wuhan.

Veteran writer Chandrakanth Kusnoor passes away

  • Veteran writer and translator Chandrakanth Kusnoor died of natural causes in Belagavi. He was 90.
  • A multi faceted personality, he earned significant fame as a writer, translator, novelist, poet, playwright, painter, and art critic and institution builder.
  • He is among the few artists to have won awards from the Karnataka Nataka Academy, Karnataka Lalitha Kala Academy and Karnataka Sahitya Academy for his work.

Most online content on child abuse from India

  • In a global compilation of reports of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) found online, India stands right on top of the list, with 11.7% of the total reports.
  • India is followed by Pakistan, which contributes 6.8% of all reports (11.5 lakh reports). Bangladesh comes in fourth with 5.5 lakh reports and a share of 3.3%.
  • The National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) urges people to report CSAM found online across the world annually, on their online platform CyberTipline.

  • As the world grapples with the coronavirus pandemic, Switzerland has been sending out messages of hope, love and empathy. The daily projections have been illuminating the mountain since the end of March.
  • Matterhorn is one of the highest peaks of the Swiss Alps, located near the resort town of Zermatt, between Switzerland and Italy.
