N. Kashinath appointed as member of Railway Board

  • N. Kashinath took over as Member (Signal & Telecom) of Railway Board. Prior to this appointment, he was associated with Train Describer Project, Survey for Mobile Train Radio Communication in Northeast Frontier Railway, etc.
  • Besides him, V.P. Pathak also took over as member (Materials Management) Railway Board. Previously, he was working as Director General (RS), Railway Board since June 2018 and General Manager (GM) of Chittaranjan Locomotive Works since December 2016.

  • The World Liver Day is observed every year on April 19 to raise awareness about liver and following lifestyle which supports liver health.
  • Observance of this day seeks to highlight importance of liver in human body and how liver ailments can be treated.
  • According to World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates, liver diseases are 10th most common cause of death in India.

DMRC: World’s first 100% green energy rail network

  • Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) became world’s first 100%% green energy rail network.
  • It achieved this feat after it started receiving solar power from Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa Solar Power Project.
  • DMRC received total 27 megawatts (MW) power from Rewa Solar Power Project and will be gradually increased to 99 MW.
  • The solar power received from Rewa plant will be utilised by DMRC for operational as well as auxiliary requirement.
  • Till now, DMRC had utilized solar power generated by roof top plants installed in its premises for auxiliary requirements such as lighting, air conditioning of stations and depots.

  • Sunil Kumar Gautam, Special Commissioner of Police (Operations) was honoured with ‘Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant Award‘ for 2018-19.
  • He was awarded for his book titled ‘Samvidhan Kavya‘ by Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) under the Ministry of Home Affairs,
  • His book was originally been written in Hindi language. It has total 238 couplets explain Constitution of India, the lengthiest Constitution of the world in  very simple and poetic form.
