Indian Navy tracks Chinese naval ships in Indian Ocean Region

  • Seven Chinese Navy warships operating in and around the Indian Ocean Regionhave been tracked by the Indian Navy using its American-origin P-8I anti-submarine warfare spy planes and other surveillance assets.
  • The Chinese ships can be seen passing through southern Indian Ocean beforeentering Sri Lankan waters.
  • The Chinese warships are deployed officially to carry out 'anti-piracy' drills but they are used as a power projectors.

Hurricane Humberto to hit Bahamas

Government to set up Indian National Defence University to be set up

  • Indian National Defence University (INDU) is still missing in action even after 52 years after its idea was conceived and 6 years after foundation was laid.
  • The varsity was to initially set up four new institutions — School of National Security Studies, School of Defence Technology, School of Defence Management and Centre for Distance and Open Learning in the main campus.
  • Existing National Defence College (Delhi), College of Defence Management (Secunderabad), Defence Services Staff College (Wellington) and National Defence Academy (Khadakwasla) would be affiliated to it.

Mayank vaid- 1st Indian to complete Enduroman triathlon

Manipur to host UN conference on drugs and HIV AIDS

  • Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla has announced that the state is going host the United Nations International Conference to discuss the issues related to drug menace and HIV/AIDS problems in the region on September 30 and October 1.
