IRCTC to be listed on Share Market

  • Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will make its stock market debut after it concluded its 645 crore Initial Public Offering (IPO).
  • The shares will be listed on the BSE and the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
  • IRCTC is the only entity authorised by Indian Railways to provide catering services to railways, online railway tickets and packaged drinking water at railway stations and trains in India.

Delhi’s Air quality sinks

  • Air quality in Delhi is expected to remain "poor" for a fourth straight day, with the national capital likely to record an Air Quality Index of 256.
  • The AQI is likely to worsen to "very poor" by the third week of October, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR). 
  • SAFAR is an advanced system that predicts the air quality as well as weather conditions in a given area.
  • It is developed byIndian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune and operationalized by India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Manju Rani wins silver medal in Word Boxing Championship

  • Manju Rani has won the silver medal at the Women's World Boxing Championships after losing her 48kg final.
  • She lost to Russian opponent Ekaterina Paltceva with a score line of 4-1 at Ulan-Ude in Russia.
  • Earlier this year, she won a silver medal on debut at the prestigious Strandja Memorial Tournament which is one of Europe's oldest and most competitive boxing events.

World Bank cuts India's growth to 6%

  • The World Bank has revised its India prediction and said that India’s growth rate is projected to fall to 6% in the current quarter.
  • But it also added that the country was expected to gradually recover to 6.9% in 2021 and 7.2% in 2022.
  • The report also noted that the current account deficit had widened to 2.1% of the GDP in 2018-19 from 1.8% a year before.
