Tejas express passengers to get free lounge and insurance

  • Passengers travelling on IRCTC’s Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express will get a free rail travel insurance of ?25 lakh each, offer of luggage ferried from their homes to seats at a cost and even have exclusive lounges to relax.
  • The Delhi-Lucknow and Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express trains will be the first trains to be run by the IRCTC, a private subsidiary of Indian railways.

World’s most powerful electric eel found in Amazon

  • Researchers have discovered two new species of electric eels in South America, one of which can deliver a bigger jolt of electricity than any other known animal.
  • One of the new species , Electrophorus voltai , can discharge up to 860 volts of electricity, which is more than the 650 volts generated by the known electric eel species, Electrophorus electricus.

Railways to recharge phone of customers using crushed plastic bottle machine

  • Passengers wanting to use them will have to key in their phone number into the machine and their phone will be recharged.

India successfully launches man portable anti-tank guided missile

  • DRDO has successfully flight tested an indigenously-developed low weight, fire and forget Man Portable Antitank Guided Missile (MPATGM) in the ranges of Kurnool on September 11.
  • This is the third series of successful testing of MPATGM. The missile is incorporated with state-of-the-art Infrared Imaging Seeker along with advanced avionics.
