India protests China’s involvement in CPEC corridor

  • India rejected the reference to Jammu and Kashmir in the latest China-Pakistan joint statement and called on both countries to stop activities related to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
  • India has consistently expressed concerns to both China and Pakistan on the projects in so-called China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, which is on the territory of India that has been illegally occupied by Pakistan since 1947.

Trump sacks John Bolton as NSA

  • President Donald Trump has sacked national security adviser John Bolton , citing strong disagreements on a number of policy issues.
  • Bolton was named Trump's third national security adviser in April 2018 after the departure of Army Gen H R McMaster.

India skips SCO's Eurasian Economic Forum in China

  • India did not register its presence at the Eurasian Economic Forum under SCO which was held in Xi'an City of China.
  • The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, of which India is a member, had organised the forum, pushing for greater cooperation in the spheres of communication, technology and development.

Tehreek-e- Taliban Pakistan chief designated as global terrorist

  • US has slapped sanctions on the chief of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Noor Wali Mehsud and designated him as a global terrorist.
  • US actions aims to deny these terrorists the resources to plan and carry out attacks. All of their property and interests in property subject to US jurisdiction are blocked, and US persons are generally prohibited from engaging in any transactions with them.

P K Mishra appointed principal secretary to Prime Minister

  • The Centre has appointed former Indian Administrative Service officer Pramod Kumar Mishra the new principal secretary to Prime minister Narendra Modi, and former Cabinet Secretary Pradeep Kumar Sinha to the post of principal advisor to the prime minister.
  • Mishra will replace Nripendra Misra, who had resigned on August 30 from the post.
  • Mishra was previously the additional principal secretary to the prime minister, and has held major posts like secretary in the Agriculture and Cooperation department and chairman of the State Electricity Regulatory Commission.
