Nia Tony was awarded Eco Champions of Recycling award

  • Eight-year-old Indian origin student Nia Tony was awarded Eco Champions of Recycling award for her efforts in keeping the environment clean by collecting paper waste.
  • She was honoured during 22nd edition of Emirates Recycling Awards in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the paper section in individual category for collecting a total of 14,914 kg of paper waste.
  • The Emirates Recycling Awards are given Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) for eco-friendly drive in three categories - corporations, academic institutions and individuals/families and the materials.

Dell ranked most trusted brand in India

  • Dell was ranked top trusted brand in India in 2019 in TRA Report 2019. It was followed by auto brand Jeep (3rd), LIC (3rd) and Amazon (4th).
  • Apple was ranked fifth most trusted brand followed by Samsung at the sixth spot and LG’s televisions are the leader and occupied the 7th position in the list.
  • The eighth trusted brand rank is held by Aviva Life Insurance followed by Maruti Suzuki at the ninth position and State Bank of India at tenth place.

Xi Jinping awarded highest national award of Kyrgyzstan

  • Chinese President Xi Jinping was conferred with the highest national award of Kyrgyzstan- Manas Order of the First Degree. He was awarded during his visit to Kyrgyzstan before SCO summit.
  • He was awarded for special contributions to development of Kyrgyzstan-China comprehensive strategic partnership and providing long-running support and assistance to Kyrgyzstan.
  • Kyrgyzstan is hosting 19th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. SCO isEurasian political, economic and security alliance.
  • China plays an influential role in SCO. It is founding member of SCO along with Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. India and Pakistan were admitted to SCO in 2017.

Akshaya Patra wins BBC World Service Global Champion Award

  • Bengaluru-based NGO Akshaya Patra was awarded  BBC World Service Global Champion Award.
  • It was awarded in recognition for its school meals project project for playing key role in changing the way the world produces, processes, consumers or food for the better.
  • Akshaya Patra is non-profit organisation founded in 2000. It runs one of world’s largest school meals project in India.
  • Its school meals project aims to ensure that no child is deprived of education because of hunger.
