Mohun Bagan will wins I-League title

  • Mohun Bagan won their second I-League title and fifth national league crown overall with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Aizawl FC.
  • Bagan have thus ended their time in the I-League with a title win as their merger with ATK means that they will be playing in the Indian Super League from the next season.
  • Bagan won the league title with four matches to spare, equalling the record set by Dempo in the 2009/10 season.

Kerala officials take samples from dead bats

  • Three days after the presence of bird flu was confirmed in two areas of Kerala's Kozhikode district, local villagers found a good number of bats and crows lying dead.
  • The bird flu was found at two poultry farms in and around Kozhikode Municipal Corporation limits and the areas where the bats and crows carcasses were found was near to this.
  • To prevent the spread of the flu, District Animal Husbandry Officers ordered the closure of poultry farms as well as shops selling chicken and eggs within a ten-km radius from the source of the outbreak.

The Exorcist actor Max Von Sydow dies

  • Actor Max Von Sydow, who appeared in films and TV series including The Exorcist, Flash Gordon and Game of Thrones, has died at the age of 90.
  • Von Sydow's other film credits included Hannah and Her Sisters, The Seventh Seal and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
  • He was nominated for two Oscars during his career - including best actor in 1988 for Pelle the Conqueror.
  • Von Sydow also appeared in Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island, Steven Spielberg's Minority Report, and played comic book villain Ming the Merciless in 1980's Flash Gordon.

Army rescues people near Sela pass

  • Soldiers of the Army rescued 390 civilians trapped in heavy snow and sub-zero conditions at 14,000 ft in Arunachal Pradesh.
  • This followed the rescue of 111 people at the same place, SelaPass on the border between Tawang and West Kameng districts.
  • The rescued people were provided medical support and hot snacks to insulate them from hypothermia and other health complications caused by exposure to extreme cold conditions.

UK health minister tests positive for Coronavirus

  • British MP Nadine Dorries, a minister in the health department, has tested positive for coronavirus.
  • Dorries, the MP for Mid Bedfordshire, began to feel sick and was diagnosed with COVID-19. She's currently in isolation recovering.
  • Dorries attended a reception with Prime Minister Johnson and met other Members of Parliament among the hundreds of people she interacted with prior to her diagnosis.
