  • Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed range of 'combat casualty drugs' to reduce casualties in warfare.
  • It can help to extend the golden hour till the seriously injured trooper is shifted to hospital.
  • It includes bleeding wound sealants, super absorptive dressings and glycerinated salines that can save lives in event of warfare in jungle and high altitude areas.
  • The main battlefield emergencies are excess bleeding, sepsis, shock, hypovolemia (decreased blood volume) and pain.
