11 more state Doordarshan Channels added on Satellite Footprint

  • Prasar Bharati has brought 11 more State Doordarshan (DD) Channels on the Satellite footprint of India through 'DD Free Dish'. Five of them are from Northeastern states.
  • These state DD channels are of Chhattisgarh, Goa, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Uttarakhand.
  • Satellite network of these 11 channels through DD Free Dish will give them an all-India presence.
  • It will increase visibility of these channels in the regions will also give them an all-India presence.

DRDO develops combat drugs to reduce casualties in warfare

  • Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed range of 'combat casualty drugs' to reduce casualties in warfare.
  • It can help to extend the golden hour till the seriously injured trooper is shifted to hospital.
  • It includes bleeding wound sealants, super absorptive dressings and glycerinated salines that can save lives in event of warfare in jungle and high altitude areas.
  • The main battlefield emergencies are excess bleeding, sepsis, shock, hypovolemia (decreased blood volume) and pain.

BEE releases UNNATEE document

  • Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has released national strategy document called UNNATEE (Unlocking NATional Energy Efficiency potential) aimed at improving energy efficiency in India.
  • For preparing this document, BEE has collaborated with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
  • It escribes plain framework and implementation strategy to establish clear linkage between energy supply-demand scenarios and energy efficiency opportunities.
  • It also offers comprehensive roadmap to address India’s environmental and climate change mitigation action through energy efficiency measures.

PM inaugurates Buxar and Khurja Thermal Power Plants

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid foundation Stones of Buxar (Bihar) and Khurja (Uttar Pradesh) Thermal Power Plants.  Both will have power generating capacity of 1,320 MW each.
  • Both plants will be based on Supercritical Technology, equipped with latest emission control technology to protect environment. They will have high efficiency and use less fuel to generate power.
  • Both projects are expected to generate substantial direct and indirect employment apart from various other socio-economic development in the project area.

Maharashtra Government launches Atal Aahar Yojna

  • Maharashtra government has launched ‘Atal Aahar Yojna’ for construction workers in the state to provide good quality food at a highly subsidised rate.
  • In the first phase of the scheme, over 20000 workers will be covered and will bbe provide them with good quality food at nominal cost of Rs.5.
  • State Government also launched Shramev Jayate Yojana under which pension of Rs.3000 is given to construction workers above age of 60 years.
  • State Government is already providing subsidy of Rs.4.5 lakh to labourers for house construction and is planning to provide help in education, income and health as well.

India, Japan 1st space dialogue held in New Delhi
