Children of mothers with diabetes have increased rates of early onset cardiovascular disease or CVD from childhood up to the age of 40, researchers have warned.
The increased rates were more pronounced among children of mothers with a history of CVD or diabetic complications, said the study.
Preventing, screening, and treating diabetes in women of childbearing age could be important not only for improving the health of the women but also for reducing long term risks of CVD in their offspring.
A study has found that, in the damaged areas of the reefs, the parrot fish populations increased in number by between two and eight times, and individual fish were about 20 per cent larger than those in unbleached sections.
The bleached areas get colonised by the microalgae and cyanobacteria which act as nutritious source of food for these fishes. This process helps in repairing the damage caused to the reef system.
Bleaching is coral's stress reaction to prolonged exposure to higher sea surface temperatures.
