Ross Taylor becomes New Zealand’s highest run scorer in test cricket

  • Ross Taylor became New Zealand's highest run-scorer in Test cricket on the fourth day of the third test against Australia.
  • He broke Stephen Fleming's previous record for the highest runs in Test cricket for New Zealand.
  • Taylor now holds New Zealand's record in both Tests and ODIs having also passed Fleming in the 50-over format last February against Bangladesh.

New Zealand Cricketer Leo Carter hits six sixes in an over

  • New Zealand batsman Leo Carterentered the history books by becoming the seventh cricketer in the world to hit six 6s in an over.
  • Carter achieved the feat during his side Canterbury Kings' win over Northern Knights in New Zealand's domestic Twenty20 tournament Super Smash.
  • Carter also became only the fourth batsman to achieve the feat in T20 cricket in both domestic and international level.
  • The other batsmen to achieve the feat in T20s include India's Yuvraj (2007), Whitely (2017) and Zazai (2018).

Bangladesh orders arrest of former 1st Hindu Chief Justice

  • An arrest warrant has been issued against former Bangladesh Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha for embezzling 40 million taka.
  • Sinha, who lives in the US, has been described as a "fugitive" by Bangladesh's Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in its chargesheet.
  • In 2015, Sinha became the first Hindu chief justice of Bangladesh, and the 21st occupant of the office since the country’s independence from Pakistan in 1971.

Challakere chosen as ISRO’s astronaut training hub

  • India’s world-class facility for training astronauts will be established in three years at Challakere in Chitradurga district of Karnataka.
  • The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has proposed a ? 2,700-crore master plan to create top infrastructure that will house its young Human Space Flight Centre (HSFC).
  • When ready, the 400-acre ISRO land at Challakere will be the single-stop consolidating infrastructure and activities related to space travellers.
  • Challakere will also host work related to crew and service modules of the spacecraft that carries the astronauts and up to mission control.
