Shooter Deepak Kumar secures Olympic berth

  • Indian shooter Deepak Kumar booked his berth in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 in men's 10m rifle after he bagged a bronze medal in the Asian Shooting Championships held in Doha, Qatar.
  • Kumar became the 10th Indian shooter to win a Tokyo Olympic 2020 quota.
  • Deepak qualified for the final after finishing third in the qualification round.

Facebook launches new company logo

  • Facebook Inc has unveiled a new logo for the company in an attempt to distinguish the brand from its apps.
  • The social media company said it would start using the new branding within its products and marketing materials, and would update the Facebook for Business website.
  • It's the first time in 15 years that the company is changing its logo.

Sanskrit version of Bangladeshi national anthem launched

  • The national anthem of Bangladesh has been given a Sanskrit makeover on the eighth death anniversary of the Assam's cultural icon Bhupen Hazarika.
  • Ranjan Bezbaruah is the man behind an 11-song audio album released, which also accommodates the Sanskrit version of Aamaar Shonar Bangla, the national anthem of Bangladesh that was written and composed by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

Chirag Paswan elected LJP president

  • Chirag Paswan has been elected as the national president of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) .
  •  He is son of Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan, who formed the party in 2000 after parting ways from the Janata Dal (United).
  • Chirag Paswan is a Lok Sabha MP from Jamui in Bihar. He was also the chairman of LJP's central parliamentary board and also state president of Bihar unit

Andhra Pradesh government scraps order to rename Kalam award

  • The Andhra Pradesh government has been forced to withdraw an order to rename the ‘APJ Abdul Kalam Pratibha Puraskar Awards’ after the CM’s father, the late YSR Reddy, following sharp criticism from the opposition.
  • The award was earlier known as ‘Prathibha Awards’, but the name was changed to honour former president and ‘missile man of India’ APJ Abdul Kalam by the previous government.
  • The award is presented to meritorious Class 10 students on November 11, celebrated as National Education Day on the eve of Moulana Abul Kalam Azad’s birth anniversary.
  • The best performing students are awarded merit certificates, a memento and scholarships to meet higher education costs.
