Rakesh Malhotra appointed as High Commissioner of Cameroon

  • Rakesh Malhotra, currently serving as Consul General, Consulate General of India, Melbourne was appointed as the High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Cameroon.
  • He joined MEA in 1984 and before joining Consulate in Melbourne he worked as Deputy Secretary in Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
  • He has been on many Indian diplomatic missions in Oman, Greece, Kyrgyzstan, Suriname, Canada, South Africa and Peru, where he dealt with political, commercial, education, cultural and diaspora issues.

Vinod K. Dasari appointed CEO of Royal Enfield

  • Vinod K. Dasari named as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Royal Enfield, and also became executive director in board of Eicher Motors (parent organization of Royal Enfield).
  • He succeeded incumbent Siddhartha Lal, who will continue to be MD of Eicher Motors Ltd.
  • He earlier had served as MD and CEO at Ashok Leyland since 2011.

Vipin Anand appointed MD of LIC

  • Vipin Anand assumed charge of Managing Director of the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) as per Govt. of India (GoI) Notification dated 14th March, 2019.
  • He succeeded interim chairman, Hemant Bhargava.
  • In his tenure of more than 35 years, he has served as head of LIC’s western zone, comprising of 23 divisions, and LIC’s east-central zone headquartered at Patna.
  • He was also instrumental in setting up LIC’s operations in Singapore and Bangladesh.

Annual Meeting NDB held in Cape Town, South Africa

  • The 4th Annual Meeting of the New Development Banks (NDB) Board of Governors (BoG) and 18th Meeting of NDB’s Board of Directors (BoD) held in Cape Town, South Africa.
  • At meetings, Board members highlighted achievements of Bank, including its business expansion, growth of loan portfolio and ramp up of NDB’s borrowings.
  • Board of Governors provided guidance for Bank’s future work.
  • NDB’s BoG meeting was chaired by Mr. Tito Titus Mboweni, Governor of the NDB, and Minister of Finance of Republic of South Africa.
  • Mr. Paulo Guedes, Governor of NDB and Minister of Economy of Brazil, was elected as next Chairman of BoG, with term until end of next BoG Annual Meeting, which will be held in Brazil in 2020.
  • The New Development Bank, earlier named BRICS Development Bank, is a multilateral development bank established by BRICS states (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) with Headquarters in Shanghai, China and current President K.V. Kamath.

Saurav Ghosal: 1st Indian in top-10 Professional Squash Association world rank

  • In latest PSA (Professional Squash Association) top 10 world ranking, Saurav Ghosal was ranked at 10th Place.
  • He moved up two places to become first Indian male squash player to make in top 10 list.
  • He reached up to quarter finals in 2018-2019 PSA World Championship held in Chicago, USA.
  • Earlier, Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal are two Indian Women Squash player who are in top 10 PSA World ranking.
  • At Present, Joshna Chinappa(Ranked 15th)  is India’s best female squash player and Saurav Ghosal(Ranked 10th) is India’s best Male Squash Player
