  • The government has appointed new Chief Justices for seven High Courts.
  • Justice Lingappa Narayana Swamy of Karnataka High Court, has been appointed as Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
  • Justice Ravi Shanker Jha, Acting Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, has been appointed as Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
  • Justice Indrajit Mohanty of the Bombay High Court will take over as the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court.
  • Justice Arup K. Goswami, Gauhati High Court judge, has been appointed as Sikkim High Court Chief Justice.
  • Justice Ajai Lamba of Allahabad High Court, has been appointed as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.
  • Justice J.K. Maheshwari of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has been appointed as Andhra Pradesh High Court Chief Justice.

India to host NBA games for the first time

Ravindra Jadeja becomes fastest left arm bowler to take 200 wickets

  • Indian spinner Ravindra Jadeja  became the fastest left-arm bowler to achieve 200 test wickets in only 44 test matches.
  • He raced ahead of Sri Lanka’s Rangana Herath (47 matches) and Australia’s Mitchell Johnson (49).
  • Jadeja also became the second fastest Indian to scalp 200 wickets in Test cricket just behind Ravichandran Ashwin who had achieved this feat in 37 matches.

IAF admits shooting of own helicopter

  • Air chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria has admitted that the IAF helicopter that was shot down on 27th February 2019 was a mistake on the part of Indian forces.
  • The crash had resulted in death of 6 IAF personnel along with a common citizen asground casualty.
  • The copter was shot by an Israeli-origin ground-based Spyder surface-to-air missile of the IAF.
