TOI-197.0: TESS discovers new exoplanet

Date: 05 April 2019 Tags: Space
  • Astronomers discovered new exoplanet named TESS Object of Interest (TOI)-197.0 or “hot Saturn”, using Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS), a NASA’s exoplanet-hunting space telescope.
  • It is dubbed “hot Saturn” because of its size and hot temperature. It is almost 60 times bigger than our planet and is 5-billion-year-old.
  • It completes its orbit in 14 days, because planet is very close to its host star.
  • Data sent by TESS will help scientists gain valuable insights into other solar systems.
