Record nesting of Olive Ridley turtles on Rushikulya coast

  • Lakhs of Olive Ridley sea turtles have flocked this year to Rushikulya river mouth for their annual mass nesting.
  • These endangered species flock to the place every year from the third week of February to the first week of March for nesting.
  • Odisha is the largest mass nesting site for Oliver Ridleys in the world. As temperatures start rising and getting warmer, the mass nesting season on the Odisha coast starts.

India and Australia sign economic cooperation and trade pact

  • India and Australia signed an economic cooperation and trade agreement that provides India free access for over 95 per cent of Indian goods such as textiles, leather, jewellery and sports products.
  • Australia is offering zero duty access to India for about 96.4 per cent of exports (by value) from day one.
  • Australia is the 17th largest trading partner of India, while New Delhi is Canberra’s 9th largest partner. Bilateral trade in goods and services stood at $27.5 billion in 2022.

Dwayne Bravo becomes IPL’s highest wicket-taker

  • Chennai Super Kings’ veteran all-rounder Dwayne Bravo went past LasithMalinga to become the IPL’s highest wicket-taker.
  • Bravo was tied with Sri Lankan legend Malinga at the top spot with 170 wickets. Bravo now has 171 wickets to his name in 153 IPL matches.
  • Malinga, on the other hand, had taken 170 wickets in 122 matches for the Mumbai Indians.Bravo and Malinga are followed by Amit Mishra (166), Piyush Chawla and Harbhajan Singh.
