Cleanest railway station survey released

  • Rajasthan’s Jaipur station of Indian Railways has topped the list of cleanest railway stations in India, in the non-suburban group of stations.
  • Jodhpur has been ranked second and Durgapura is third.
  • In the suburban group of stations, Maharashtra’s Andheri station has topped the list.
  • The cleanest railway zone 2019 award has been given to the North Western Railway Zone.
  • The survey has been carried out by the Quality Council of India.

Saudi Arabia supports India’s action in Kashmir

  • Saudi Arabia has told India that it understands and supports India's approach and actions in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • The Saudi stance on the issue was conveyed to India in a meeting between National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman in Riyadh.
  • Saudi's remarks come despite Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's visit to Saudi Arabia to seek support on the Kashmir issue.

UK court allots Nizam's fund to India

  • The High Court of England and Wales has ruled in favour of India and the two descendants of the 7th Nizam of Hyderabad, regarding a amount of 35 million pounds in a case dating back to 1948.
  • While Pakistan claimed that the amount was entitled to be paid to it for supplying weapons to erstwhile princely state of Hyderabad for protecting itself from India, the court found no link to support the argument and ruled in favour of India.

PM Modi to declare India Open Defecation Free

  • Urban India will be declared open defecation free (ODF) on October 2, even though West Bengal has refused to work towards achieving thesanitation promise.
  •  All states have been certified as ODF, according to the statistics of the urban affairs ministry. However, 40 urban local bodies (ULBs) of West Bengal have not been certified.
  • In last year’s central rankings on cleanliness, Swachh Survekshan, 25 out of 50 dirtiest towns in India were listed in Bengal, which was ranked 28th out of 30 states.

Kapil Dev resigns as CAC chief

  • Former India skipper Kapil Dev has resigned from his post as the head of the three-member ad-hoc Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC).
  • The decision to resign from the CAC comes after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Ethics Officer D.K. Jain sent a notice to the panel comprising of Kapil, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy with regards to allegations of conflict of interest.
