The government is planning to observe pension week to enroll one crore beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) and the National Pension Scheme for Traders and Self Employed Persons (NPS-Traders) by March, 2020.
Labour and Employment Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar launched the drive for enrollment of the two schemes.
Both the schemes are hassle free and require Aadhaar card number along with a savings bank account or Jan-Dhan account are needed for enrollments.
The government has appointed Soma Roy Burman, a 1986-batch Indian Civil Accounts Service Officer, as the new Controller General of Accounts.
Burman is the 24th Controller General of Accounts and is the seventh woman to hold this position.
Burman has previously held cadre positions at different levels in ministries such as home affairs, information and broadcasting, industry, finance, human resource development, and shipping, road transport and highways.
