UK Health secretary Matt Hancock has resigned from his position for alleged violation of social distancing protocols implemented by the government.
UK has implemented strict social distancing rules for preventing the spread of the Virus. This involved avoiding physical contacts.
Health Secretary Hancock was caught getting intimate with his chief aide and colleague in his office.
Hancock Was previously a minister of state for Digital and Culture. He had been serving in his current position since the last three years.
Before joining politics, Hancock worked as a chief economist in bank of England. He was the chief of staff of Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer.
The Sun tabloid had published a CCTV picture of Hancock kissing his aide. He was accused of having affair with his aide.
The tabloid also said that Hancock was cheating on his wife of 15 years with his aide, who is also married.
Former Chancellor of Exchequer, Sajid Javid will now take over the charge of Secretary of Health in the government.
Violation of rules
Individuals in the country have to maintain a distance of two feet while meeting others. They can however have contact with family and friends.
Workspaces have been mandated to maintain a social distancing norms wherever possible. This is applicable to all offices and establishments.
There was tremendous pressure on Hancock to be sacked from members of his own party. He agreed to resign after issue went out of hand.
