He is from the Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) of 1983 batch. During the career span of more than 35 years, he has held important assignments in Defence Accounts Department and on deputation in Union Government. He has vast and varied experience in handling Finance, Personnel, Pay & Budget matters of Union Ministry of Defence.

CGDA heads Defence Accounts Department (DAD), which is one of the oldest government organisations in India. It operates under Union Ministry of Defence.
Functions: It is responsible for financial advice, payments, accounting and internal audit of the expenditure and receipts of defence services and other defence-related organizations such as Indian Coast Guard (IGC), Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and Canteen Stores Department.
