Actress Juhi Chawla has filed a lawsuit against implementation of 5G in the country citing harmful effects on birds and animals.
India has started the trials of 5G technology. The technology aims at providing fast internet service with low latency.
The implementation of the technology across the globe has been hampered due to the fears of harmful health effects. There are also other conspiracy theories to link it with coronavirus.
The lawsuit filed by the actress focuses on the impacts of electronic magnetic field (EMF) radiation and low intensity radiofrequency (RF) on human health and environment.
She has stated that concerned department should carry out research and later certify that the technology is safe for all animals and birds.
The actress noted that she has no opposition to technological advancements but feared of the ill-effects that the technology may have on human health and environment.
The 5G technology
5G is a mobile broadband that is advancement over the existing 4G. It will provide faster internet, ensure implementation of IoT and support streaming services more effectively.
The technology is yet to be implemented in India but companies have been given the permission to carry out trials using the spectrum.

The technology will increase the exposure of humans to radiation. The larger number of cell phone towers will play a part in the impact.
